Schiffon is a black, 16.3 hand, Trakehner stallion owned by Lee Ann Hansen and Mike Stanford of Glamorgan Manor in Virginia. He is being ridden by Lee Ann. Schiffon is fully approved by the German Trakehner Verband, the American Trakehner Association, and ISR/Oldenburg North America. In addition, his owners have received notification from the Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Society that Schiffon is eligible to be inspected by that organization and mare owners are able to register foals by Schiffon under the single breeding license rule prior to inspection by them. Schiffon completed a successful 100-day test in Germany with a dressage index of 120.86 (6th out of 32), a jumping index of 108.66 (10th of 32) and an overall score of 117.14 (9th out of 32). He received a 10 for character, a 9 for temperament, and an 8 for rideability. In tough competition, Schiffon competed successfully at M and S level in Germany. Schiffon and Lee Ann spent the summer of 2006 in training with George Theodorescu before import. In 2007 they achieved multiple wins and high placings in 4th level and Prix St. Georges. In the USDF All-Breeds awards for 2007, Schiffon was the highest ranking purebred Trakehner at the Prix St. Georges level. Schiffon’s offspring are predominantly dark in color and possess the same beauty, temperament, confidence, and rideability as their father, resulting in a German dressage breeding index of 120. His foals and daughters have placed well in-hand in Germany and 2 sons have been licensed by the Trakehner Verband. Tanzpartner was licensed at Neumuenster this year. Herzglanz was licensed last year and recently completed his 30 day test, receiving an 8.63 for interior qualities, 8.44 for his walk, 7.5 for trot, 8.25 for canter, 7.63 for rideability, and 7.94 for jumping, with an overall average of 8.1. This was the 9th highest average of the 32 participants, where one of the judges has been quoted on the internet as saying that it was the BEST collection of stallions he had seen! At the elite foal auction this fall in Neumuenster, Schiffon was the dam-sire of a top filly selling for 21,500 euro. For competition, Schiffon’s offspring are primarily used for dressage. From his first crop in 1999, a son, Alstertraum has competed at S-level dressage with international rider Ellen Bontje and others have been successful in lower levels. Schiffon is a sire of versatile athletes and has one son who has won in 4 foot jumping classes and another who is a successful 3 foot hunter in the Florida circuit. Schiffon’s success as a sire and performer is based upon his superior bloodlines, excellent Trakehner type, movement and willingness to work. His sire, Anduc, was awarded the coveted Elite Stallion title by the Trakehner Verband for number of quality offspring he has produced. Schiffon’s dam, Surprise, was bred in Denmark and was National Champion mare of Denmark as a 3 year old. Her sire Maago, was a thoroughbred who was winning races until age 6 when a severe laceration forced retirement from that sport, but just 3 years later, he was competing in dressage at the Grand Prix level. He went on to compete at European and World Championships for the Danish team and remains the only thoroughbred in Europe to have done so. Schiffon stands at Glamorgan Manor, where his owner Dr. Stanford operates an on-site stallion station to facilitate the best in service for the mare owner. Schiffon… a superb sire for type, temperament and athletic ability. Please come by the stable to meet Schiffon in person, he loves visitors! |
